MY GORGEOUS DIY PETAL GARLANDS!!!
Any color, any decoration, any length, any number...make your wedding as individual as you are!
Here's an idea I'm crazy in love with and just started creating for my wedding reception. There are multiple instructions and hints for a DIY petal curtain but for me by far the most effective and easy is to use one strand of petals per foot of curtain/wall that you're decorating. The curtain in the my reception room is a bit dull as you can see below...
When the curtains are shut they're very boring and very green! As our top tables going in front of the curtain I'm making between 25 and 30 garlands to hang from the curtain to spice it up a bit:
I used fishing line and using a normal needle just threaded silk petals, artificial leaves, pearl beads and clear sparkly beads on. Normally as the line is so thin I'd thread each petal to the place you want it and put a double stitch in the point of each petal so they don't slide down the line when hung up. Disperse the petals and beads according to eye, it looks best when it looks like the petals are naturally falling. I sourced all my beads and petals from ebay for very very little and fishing line from a local fishing tackle shop for 99p.
The fishing line makes them look like they're floating...They'll catch the glimmer of the candle-light, are romantic and if you get scented ones bring the outside in! x
Finally in situ:
